Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living to promote patient dignity
• Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility while encouraging independence
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff promptly and accurately
• Document care and observations in resident charts following facility procedures
• Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and the care team to deliver coordinated, person-centered care
• Help create a warm, respectful environment that supports residents’ social and emotional needs

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential (state of practice) — Rhode Island certification preferred or eligible
• Completion of an approved CNA training program
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background and health screenings
• Comfortable working in long-term care or rehabilitation settings; strong communication and teamwork skills

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a state-approved CNA training program required

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic nursing care and activities of daily living (ADL) support
• Infection prevention and safe patient handling techniques
• Accurate documentation and reporting of observations
• Strong interpersonal skills and compassionate bedside manner
• Ability to follow care plans and take direction from licensed nursing staff
