Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care across the Emergency Department and Med-Surg unit.
• Assess, triage and prioritize patients in the ED quickly and accurately to ensure timely care.
• Administer medications, perform treatments, and monitor patient status with attention to safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care plans.
• Document clinical findings and interventions clearly and timely in the medical record.
• Support unit readiness by participating in rotations for weekends and holiday coverage as scheduled.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Iowa license or compact RN license recommended)
• Experience caring for patients in Emergency Department and/or Medical-Surgical settings (previous 12-hour shift experience a plus)
• Current BLS certification; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong clinical assessment and triage skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Comfort working in a Critical Access Hospital environment and collaborating across small teams

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) or equivalent nursing education

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical expertise in emergency nursing and medical-surgical care
• Triage, rapid assessment and critical thinking under pressure
• Medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to adapt to rotating shifts and share weekend/holiday responsibilities
