Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: 4-hour shifts (no-break specified); exact start/end times and scheduled days to be confirmed with facility (Pre-op, pediatric unit)

Candidate Pay Rate: $46 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, high-quality pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients
Perform focused assessments and prepare children for surgery with compassion
Collaborate with surgical team, anesthesia, and family to ensure smooth perioperative flow
Administer pre-op medications and verify orders per protocol
Educate families and caregivers on pre-op instructions and post-op expectations
Document assessments, interventions, and communication thoroughly and accurately
Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the pre-operative process

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio (or compact license where applicable)
Pediatric experience (pre-op or pediatric surgical care preferred)
Current BLS required; PALS preferred or willing to obtain
Strong communication skills with children and family-centered care approach
Ability to work efficiently in short, focused shift blocks and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate care techniques
Pre-operative preparation and medication administration knowledge
Familiarity with surgical workflow and perioperative safety protocols
Excellent documentation and handoff communication skills
Calm, reassuring bedside manner for children and families
