Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor post-anesthesia patients, ensuring safe, timely recovery
• Manage ventilated patients and provide advanced respiratory support as needed
• Administer and monitor procedural sedation and conscious sedation safely
• Start IVs and manage invasive lines including arterial and pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) monitoring
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and recognize/deteriorate dysrhythmias for prompt intervention
• Provide care across multiple perioperative areas including preop and multiple surgical specialties
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to areas of need and adapt to high-volume caseloads (120-140 cases/day) with professionalism

Qualifications

• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of PACU nursing experience
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• Proven skills in IV start, procedural/conscious sedation administration and monitoring
• Experience with ventilator management, tele vents, and care of ventilated patients
• Familiarity with pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) and arterial line monitoring
• Comfort working with adult and pediatric populations across a wide variety of surgical specialties
• Ability to float to different perioperative areas; first-time travel nurses are welcome
• Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing
• IV start and vascular access management
• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Hemodynamic monitoring including A-line and PA (Swan-Ganz)
• Procedural and conscious sedation administration and monitoring
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management
• Neurological monitoring including ICP/EVD awareness
• Experience with PCA and epidural devices
• Familiarity with high-volume perioperative workflows and cross-coverage
