Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, age-appropriate post-anesthesia care for pediatric patients, ensuring safety and comfort
• Perform thorough assessments and continuous monitoring of vital signs, pain, and emergence from anesthesia
• Manage airway and circulatory support as needed, escalating concerns to anesthesia or the surgical team promptly
• Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and interdisciplinary staff to deliver seamless perioperative care
• Educate families on recovery expectations, discharge instructions, and safe home care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in the medical record
• Participate in orientation, unit trainings, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Ohio or eligibility per facility policy
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) highly preferred
• Clinical experience in PACU, pediatric nursing, or a related acute care setting preferred
• Comfort with pediatric assessment, airway management basics, and post-anesthesia recovery
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of post-anesthesia care principles and recovery milestones for pediatric patients
• Skilled in patient assessment, monitoring equipment interpretation, and timely intervention
• Familiarity with pediatric medication dosing and safety practices
• Proficient documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) use
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritize patient safety
