Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for pediatric patients throughout the surgical experience
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure instrumentation readiness for a variety of pediatric procedures
• Assess patients pre- and post-operatively and communicate changes to the surgical and anesthesia teams
• Anticipate surgical team needs and provide timely support during procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, techs, and family members to deliver family-centered care
• Document care accurately and timely in the patient record and participate in handoffs
• Participate in orientation activities and precept new staff to support team growth
• Adhere to safety protocols, infection control standards, and hospital policies to protect patients

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Ohio
• BLS required; PALS and perioperative certifications (e.g., CNOR) encouraged or preferred
• Experience or strong interest in pediatric perioperative nursing and working in an OR setting
• Comfortable with sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and pediatric-specific considerations
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to pass facility onboarding and orientation requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• BSN preferred but all qualified RN candidates will be considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Pediatric growth, development, and family-centered care approaches
• Surgical instrumentation and OR workflow
• Patient assessment, perioperative monitoring, and postoperative care
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-paced environments
• Electronic medical record documentation basics
• Infection control and safety protocols
• Time management and ability to prioritize during cases
