Roles & Responsibilities

• Float to various Oncology Medical-Surgical units as needed to ensure continuous, high-quality patient care
• Provide skilled telemetry monitoring and interpret/manage cardiac dysrhythmias on the unit
• Deliver safe medication administration using Pyxis and document care in EPIC accurately and timely
• Manage IV therapy, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, and feeding tube care
• Support respiratory needs including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation
• Participate in rapid response/code teams and collaborate with interdisciplinary services for optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain safety protocols within a locked corrections environment and work closely with Corrections Officers
• Assist with oncology-related care including chemotherapy administration and monitoring when applicable

Qualifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) — required
• EPIC charting experience — required
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (must meet requirements within the last 3 years) with at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
• Experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry care; oncology experience preferred but not required
• Comfort working in a secure corrections unit with locked-unit protocols and collaboration with Corrections Officers
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication system and bedside cardiac monitoring
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-Surgical nursing and telemetry monitoring
• Cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and unit-based telemetry management
• EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication workflows
• IV therapy, PICC/central line care, blood product administration, phlebotomy
• Respiratory support: BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, oxygen therapy
• Insulin protocols and IV insulin management; familiarity with heparin protocols and PCA
• Pre/Post hemodialysis knowledge and renal failure patient care
• Oncology basics: chemo administration/monitoring and management of neutropenic patients
• Feeding tube care and general post-op/surgical drain management
• Strong situational awareness and ability to maintain staff and patient safety in a corrections environment
