Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity emergency nursing care for oncology patients in the dedicated Oncology Pod
• Perform thorough triage and prioritize care for adolescents, adults, pediatrics and geriatric patients
• Initiate and maintain IV therapy and blood product administration with proficiency
• Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias; obtain and act on 12-lead EKG/ECG findings
• Manage ventilated patients and support respiratory interventions including BiPAP/CPAP
• Administer emergency medications, including IV vasopressors, and respond to rapid changes
• Document accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, social services and rapid response teams

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience required
• Minimum 1 year of travel RN experience required (HARD STOP)
• EPIC experience is required
• Certifications required or highly preferred: BCLS (BLS), ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, IV starts, and cardiac monitoring
• Comfort working in a Level I/II trauma and stroke/STEMI-equipped environment is a plus
• Ability to float within the department and work night shifts as scheduled
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Epic charting and electronic documentation
• Triage and emergency assessment for oncology-focused ED patients
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line management
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management
• 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition and interpretation
• Ventilator care and interpretation of ABGs
• Blood product administration and emergency medication administration
• Isolation precautions and PPE best practices
