Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer radiation treatments safely and accurately according to physician prescriptions and care plans
• Operate linear accelerators, CT simulator and brachytherapy equipment with precision and confidence
• Monitor patients during treatment, providing reassurance and responding to changes in condition
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists and nursing to deliver coordinated patient care
• Document treatment details and maintain accurate records in the patient chart and departmental systems
• Adhere to radiation safety protocols and participate in quality assurance activities
• Assist with patient positioning, immobilization and education to ensure comfort and treatment fidelity
• Participate in department meetings and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Hawaii State Radiation Therapist License (required)
• Current CPR certification at Healthcare Professional level (required)
• Experience as a Radiation Therapist preferred
• Comfortable operating linear accelerators, CT simulator and brachytherapy units
• Familiarity with stereotactic radiosurgery, tomotherapy and total body irradiation a plus
• Ability to provide sedation/analgesia care support and monitor patients as needed
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care

Education

• Current Hawaii State Radiation Therapist License
• CPR (Healthcare Professional) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Radiation Therapy techniques and patient treatment delivery
• External beam radiation and brachytherapy procedures
• Operation of linear accelerators and CT simulator
• Stereotactic Radiosurgery and High Dose Rate brachytherapy knowledge
• Total Body Irradiation and tomotherapy experience (preferred)
• Radiation safety practices and monitoring
• Patient assessment, monitoring and communication
• Treatment planning awareness and documentation best practices
• Familiarity with blood irradiator operation and simulator use
