Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care on a 24-bed unit
• Administer treatments and medications per physician orders and unit protocols (chemo administration if certified)
• Perform assessments, monitor patient status, and intervene promptly to ensure safety
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and discharge planning
• Document care accurately in Cerner and maintain clear communication with patients and families
• Support unit needs during admissions, discharges, and procedures such as echo or thoracentesis when required

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Chemo certification preferred — candidates with this will be prioritized
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (oncology or med-surg preferred)
• Familiarity with Cerner or similar EMR systems
• Team-player attitude with strong communication and patient advocacy skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing practices and familiarity with cancer-related treatments
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record system
• Ability to manage patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5
• Comfort with common unit procedures (occasional pelvic exams, echo, thoracentesis)
• Strong clinical assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills
