Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Emergency Department with calm, confident decision-making
• Triage, assess, and prioritize care for patients with a wide range of urgent needs
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions safely and accurately
• Collaborate closely with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective care plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses thoroughly and professionally
• Respond to emergencies and rapidly changing patient conditions with decisive action
• Mentor and support colleagues to maintain a positive, learning-focused ED environment

Qualifications

• Current RN license valid in Louisiana (or compact license accepted per facility policy)
• Minimum clinical ED experience preferred (new grads with ED interest may be considered depending on unit)
• Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Demonstrated ability to perform in fast-paced, high-acuity settings
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred where available.

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency triage and rapid assessment techniques
• Cardiac monitoring, ACLS protocols, and emergency medication administration
• IV start and advanced IV therapies
• Effective documentation in electronic medical record systems
• Ability to prioritize multiple patients and tasks under pressure
