Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage incoming ED patients quickly and accurately to prioritize urgent care
• Deliver evidence-based nursing care across a broad spectrum of emergency presentations
• Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring patient responses
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Perform focused procedures and assist with advanced interventions as needed
• Document patient status and care in the electronic medical record clearly and timely
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Hawaii RN license required (or eligibility to obtain)
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
• Clinical experience or strong interest in Emergency Department/ER nursing
• Comfortable working 12.5-hour shifts in a fast-paced environment
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but all qualified nursing graduates are encouraged to apply

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and rapid assessment in emergency settings
• Trauma and acute care nursing principles
• IV therapy, medication administration, and basic airway management
• ECG rhythm recognition and basic dysrhythmia management
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation best practices
• Calm, decisive action under pressure and effective patient/family communication
