Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in the 5-bed ICU, assessing and responding to changing conditions
• Perform independent nursing interventions guided by physicians' orders, hospital policies and standards of care
• Support post-operative recovery for general surgery, pediatric and OB patients after hours as needed
• Float to Emergency Department, Med/Surg or Pediatrics during low census to maintain safe staffing and continuity of care
• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients and families to coordinate care and discharge planning
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses accurately in accordance with facility guidelines
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license to practice in any U.S. state, territory or Puerto Rico
• Minimum 3 years of prior ICU experience
• Associate Degree in Nursing required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) — American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) — American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) — American Heart Association (must be completed within 6 months of hire)
• Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) — must be completed within 6 months of hire
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — must be completed within 6 months of hire
• Ability to work independently, prioritize patient needs and adapt when floating to other units

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and patient assessment for all ages
• Inpatient care, post-operative recovery and monitoring
• Experience in ICU procedures and equipment familiarity
• Comfort floating to ED, Med/Surg and Pediatrics when needed
• Strong clinical judgment, documentation and communication skills
• Team collaboration within a culturally diverse healthcare environment
