Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient conditions using the nursing process to develop individualized care plans
• Implement and evaluate nursing interventions to promote patient recovery and safety
• Provide clear, compassionate patient education and discharge planning
• Direct and supervise ancillary personnel to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
• Document patient status and care activities accurately and promptly
• Respond to emergencies and use ACLS protocols when needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Iowa RN license (required)
• BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association (required)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN)
• Med-Surg nursing experience preferred but not required — we welcome new grads and experienced RNs
• Additional certifications such as TNCC, PALS, NRP are a plus
• Ability to complete required employment and health clearances (immunizations, background checks, drug screen, respiratory fit test) prior to start

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation
• Patient assessment and clinical decision-making for medical-surgical populations
• Care planning and effective patient education techniques
• Experience supervising and delegating to ancillary personnel
• Comfortable with Med-Surg clinical skills and documentation systems
• Teamwork, communication, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
