Roles & Responsibilities

• Collect and process specimens (blood, urine, fecal, body fluids) across clinical laboratory departments with care and precision
• Perform complex laboratory procedures, recognize deviations, and correct issues using scientific principles
• Analyze quality control data, make informed judgments, and take action to maintain accuracy and precision
• Participate in evaluation and implementation of new techniques and procedures, including writing and revising technical protocols
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and analytical issues to keep testing flowing smoothly
• Answer inquiries about test methodology, specificity/sensitivity, and factors influencing results with clear, professional communication
• Review instrument indicators and temperature monitors to ensure equipment and specimens are within required parameters
• Maintain and document self-competency in core laboratory skills

Qualifications

• ASCP (CLS/MT) certification or equivalent required
• New MT graduates must pass certification exam within 6 months of employment start date
• Bachelor's degree preferred (Associate's degree accepted for grandfathered personnel)
• Demonstrated experience or training in specimen collection, processing, and clinical laboratory testing
• Comfortable performing quality control, test validation, and analytical troubleshooting
• Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and the ability to work effectively on night shift

Education

• Bachelor's degree (or Associate's Degree for grandfathered personnel)
