Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) to promote resident dignity
• Monitor and record vital signs and resident condition, reporting changes to nursing staff
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Help create a warm, reassuring environment by engaging residents in conversation and meaningful activities
• Assist with meal service and document intake as directed
• Maintain accurate documentation in resident charts and follow care plans
• Observe and report safety concerns, potential infections, or unusual behavior to licensed staff

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification in good standing
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience working with older adults or in long-term care is a plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and required immunizations
• Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and team-oriented mindset

Education

• GNA certification (required)
• High school diploma or GED (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and personal care tasks
• Proficient in taking and documenting vital signs accurately
• Familiarity with infection control procedures and safe patient handling
• Good observational skills and the ability to report changes clearly
• Strong interpersonal skills for resident and family interactions
• Basic computer or electronic charting experience helpful
