Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients comprehensively and develop individualized, evidence-based care plans
• Implement and evaluate nursing interventions using the Clinical Practice Model and Caring-Quality Model
• Communicate clearly and professionally using SBAR and other interdisciplinary tools to ensure safe transitions of care
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and positive outcomes
• Demonstrate leadership by serving as a clinical resource and role model to colleagues
• Manage time and prioritize tasks to support unit workflow and patient safety
• Participate in unit-based council (shared governance) activities to promote a healthy work environment

Qualifications

• Active Michigan Registered Nurse license required (provide LARA and Nursys verification)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 2+ years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience required
• Travel nursing experience preferred but not required
• Skills checklist for RN specialties completed within one year of application
• Ability to provide documentation/explanations for any license verification hits if applicable
• Must be willing to follow facility attendance policy (three-strike policy effective 2024-06-01)

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and development of individualized care plans
• Strong SBAR and interdisciplinary communication skills
• Experience with medical-surgical nursing, including general, vascular, bariatric, and plastic surgery patients
• Stroke and trauma care experience valued
• Time management and ability to assist teammates in a fast-paced environment
• Participation in shared governance and unit-based collaborative practice
• Patient education and use of clinical pathways to support outcomes
