Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ respiratory status and develop individualized care plans
• Initiate, monitor, and manage mechanical ventilation to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform airway management and assist with placement of artificial airways
• Provide bedside assistance for bronchoscopies and support procedures in the endoscopy suite
• Administer therapies including oxygen, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy
• Safely transport ventilator-dependent patients and manage ventilation during transport
• Respond to emergent situations and perform resuscitation to ensure airway integrity and ventilation
• Serve as a clinical resource — educate patients, families, and staff on respiratory care
• Set up, operate, clean, sterilize, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment
• Document care accurately in the EMR (Meditech) and communicate effectively with the care team

Qualifications

• RCP license with the Texas Medical Board (required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (required)
• ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 1 year of critical care experience with adult patients (required)
• Experience with mechanical ventilation and ventilator-dependent patient transport
• Ability to intubate patients and assist with bronchoscopies (preferred)
• PALS and NRP certifications (preferred)
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator setting adjustments
• Airway management and artificial airway placement
• Experience with ventilator models: Hamilton MR1, GE Carescape R860, V60, Vapotherm, 840 ventilator
• Ventilator-dependent patient transport protocols
• Emergency response and resuscitation skills
• Oxygen therapy, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy techniques
• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making
• Documentation in Meditech and effective interdisciplinary communication
