Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough pre-operative assessments for pediatric patients, ensuring safety and readiness for procedures
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to coordinate care
• Provide clear, compassionate education to children and caregivers about procedures and pre-op instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient information accurately in the medical record
• Monitor and support patient comfort and safety while adhering to infection control and perioperative protocols
• Assist with streamlined patient flow in pre-op to help the day run smoothly and reduce anxiety for families

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Washington (or compact license as applicable)
• Experience or interest in pediatric nursing and pre-operative care
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Strong assessment, communication, and family-centered care skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced perioperative environment; orientation provided

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication techniques
• Familiarity with pre-op screening, preparation, and documentation
• Ability to recognize and escalate changes in patient condition
• Basic IV/medication administration skills and vital signs monitoring
• Experience with electronic health record charting and perioperative workflows
• Team collaboration and patient/family education
