Roles & Responsibilities

• Collect and accurately document patient information and maintain organized charts
• Perform specimen collection and Point of Care Testing (POCT) following protocol
• Measure and record vitals and ensure immunization and medication records are current
• Prepare patients and assist with routine exams, minor procedures, and radiology per competency
• Assist providers and clinic nursing staff to support efficient clinic flow and patient care
• Recognize and respond appropriately to signs/symptoms requiring prompt intervention
• Transport patients within the facility as needed and observe patients who require assistance
• Provide cross-coverage to support peers and ensure continuity of care
• Attend and apply information from staff meetings and participate in unit goal setting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR EMT III required
• Current Alaska Certification OR Alaska Paramedic Certification OR Nursing degree from an accredited institution may substitute
• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
• Demonstrated ability to use EMR/EHR systems and basic computer applications
• Ability to operate common medical equipment including blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, EKG machine, cardiac monitor, and manual defibrillator
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Nursing degree from an accredited institution accepted as substitute for Alaska certifications

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in specimen collection, labeling, and transport protocols
• Comfortable with Point of Care Testing (POCT) procedures
• Familiarity with medical terminology and clinic visit workflows
• Skilled at measuring age-appropriate vital signs and observing patient behavior
• Able to assist in life-saving procedures as certified
• Capable of training on and using various EMR systems
• Good interpersonal skills for working with a multidisciplinary healthcare team
