Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide attentive post-anesthesia care for pediatric patients in the PACU
• Assess and monitor vital signs, pain level, and recovery status after procedures
• Implement and adjust nursing interventions to maintain airway, hemodynamic stability, and comfort
• Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and perioperative staff for seamless patient transitions
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with families about recovery progress and discharge instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record
• Participate in orientation and share knowledge to help a strong team dynamic

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
• Experience or strong interest in PACU nursing with pediatric patients
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable with monitoring post-op patients, IV management, and airway support
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced perioperative environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia recovery assessment and monitoring
• Pediatric patient care principles and family-centered communication
• Airway management, basic hemodynamic assessment, and pain management
• IV therapy, medication administration, and documentation in EHR systems
• Team collaboration, situational awareness, and critical thinking under pressure
