Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Assess, monitor and document patient status, responding promptly to changes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and according to orders
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Maintain accurate, timely electronic health record documentation and handoffs

Qualifications

• Active or eligible Registered Nurse licensure (state-appropriate) — ability to work in Louisiana is expected
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS or other certifications a plus
• Clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred (ideal: 1+ year)
• Comfort working 12.5-hour shifts and delivering high-quality, efficient care
• Clear background check and immunization/status requirements as per facility policy
• Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; diploma graduates considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid medical-surgical nursing assessment and intervention skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy competency
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Patient education, discharge planning and care coordination abilities
• Effective teamwork and clear communication with multidisciplinary teams
