Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate perioperative nursing care for pediatric patients in the operating room
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to ensure smooth, efficient procedures
• Perform thorough pre-operative assessments and prepare patients and families with clear, reassuring explanations
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure proper instrumentation and supplies are ready for each case
• Document perioperative care accurately and communicate changes in patient condition promptly
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of pediatric surgical care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio (or compact nursing license if applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and OR-specific certifications preferred
• Experience in operating room nursing and/or pediatric nursing strongly preferred
• Ability to pass background checks, health screenings, and required immunizations
• Strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail in high-paced clinical environments

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of pediatric perioperative care and age-appropriate interventions
• Proficiency with sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and OR workflows
• Skill in patient and family education with a comforting, family-centered approach
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond calmly in urgent situations
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
