Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and monitor patients presenting to the emergency department with speed and clinical confidence
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document all care accurately
• Respond to emergency situations and collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary team to stabilize patients
• Provide clear patient and family education, ensuring understanding of next steps and follow-up care
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic health record documentation and handoffs
• Support infection control practices and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
• Assist with procedures and use of ED-specific equipment as needed

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (compact license accepted where applicable)
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or required by facility
• Prior Emergency Department (ED/ER) nursing experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in fast-paced settings
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shift patterns and adapt to unit needs
• Current immunizations and compliance with facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency assessment skills
• IV therapy, medication administration, and basic procedural support
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork in high-acuity environments
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients safely
• Strong situational awareness and crisis resource management
• Basic knowledge of emergency protocols and infection control
