Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in the Step-Down Unit
- Perform focused assessments and monitor patients closely for clinical changes
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and execute care plans
- Document patient status and interventions clearly and promptly
- Participate in safe patient handoffs and support smooth transitions of care
- Respond to emergent situations with calm, competent action
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
- Experience in a Step-Down Unit, telemetry, or progressive care setting is preferred
- Comfortable working 12.5-hour shifts and adapting to unit needs
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in patient assessment and recognition of clinical deterioration
- Familiarity with continuous monitoring and telemetry
- Proficient documentation and electronic charting practices
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain situational awareness
- Effective communication with patients, families, and the care team
