Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients, ensuring safe recovery
• Monitor vital signs, airway status, and pain levels; intervene quickly when needed
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and nursing protocols
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the care team to coordinate safe handoffs
• Educate and reassure patients’ families about recovery progress and discharge instructions
• Accurately document patient care, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record
• Participate in orientation and unit-based training to foster a high-performing team

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Experience in PACU nursing and working with pediatric patients preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) strongly preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication, and a team-player attitude
• Willingness to participate in orientation and unit onboarding

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric post-operative care and recovery principles
• Airway management, pain assessment, and mitigation strategies
• IV therapy skills and medication administration
• Accurate, timely clinical documentation and charting
• Collaborative communication with multidisciplinary teams and families
• Ability to prioritize and respond calmly in fast-paced recovery settings
