Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality med-surg nursing care to a 34-bed unit
• Administer medications and IV therapies per scope and IV certification
• Monitor patient status using Meditech documentation and Welch Allyn vitals systems
• Perform and assist with procedures common to the unit (dialysis support, gastric decompression, wound care)
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to maintain safe 1:6 patient ratios
• Educate patients and families about care plans and discharge instructions
• Accurately document patient care, assessments, and interventions in the EMR
• Support unit safety through proper use of equipment (Hoyer lift, PCA pumps, virtual sitter systems)

Qualifications

• Active LVN/LVN license in Texas (LPN/LVN acceptable)
• BLS certification required
• IV Certification for LVNs required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant LPN/LVN clinical experience (Med-Surg experience preferred)
• ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar EMR is a plus

Education

• LPN/LVN license (Vocational Nursing diploma or equivalent training)

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surg nursing fundamentals and patient care prioritization
• Meditech EMR documentation experience
• Experience with Welch Allyn vital signs equipment and COWs
• Comfort with PCA pumps, Hoyer lift transfers and assistive devices
• Procedures such as dialysis support, CBI, gastric decompression and wound care
• Telepsych and Teleneuro workflows, virtual sitter usage
• NIH Stroke Scale competency and acute neurologic assessment
• Strong teamwork, communication and time-management skills
