Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for nuclear medicine studies and explain procedures clearly and compassionately
• Perform high-quality diagnostic nuclear medicine scans following established protocols and safety standards
• Administer radiopharmaceuticals and monitor patients for immediate response or reactions
• Operate and troubleshoot imaging equipment (gamma camera, dose calibrator, well counter, thyroid uptake probe) to ensure reliable results
• Maintain radiation safety and contamination control practices, including use of survey meters and leaded protective equipment
• Document procedures and communicate findings and concerns to radiologists and physicians in a timely manner
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and stocked; provide coverage as needed and participate in teaching/instructional activities

Qualifications

• Current Hawaii license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (required)
• Current BLS/HCP certification (required)
• Preferred: 1 year of nuclear medicine experience, though new graduates are welcome
• Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear medicine physics, radiopharmaceutical administration, and radiation safety protocols
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills; comfortable interacting with patients of all ages
• Ability to meet physical demands (standing, walking, lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs)

Education

• Licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Hawaii
• Current BLS/HCP certification

• Patient preparation and compassionate patient care for all ages
• Diagnostic imaging techniques specific to nuclear medicine
• Radiopharmaceutical handling and administration
• Radiation safety practices and contamination control
• Operation and basic troubleshooting of dose calibrators, gamma cameras, well counters, thyroid uptake probes, and survey meters
