Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical education and training to long-term care staff across Sitka and Wrangell
• Design, select, and implement curriculum and training programs that align with policy and accreditation standards
• Standardize and streamline the clinical competency program across the consortium
• Partner with clinical leaders to develop training that improves patient care and supports staff growth and retention
• Evaluate and document the effectiveness of educational activities using evidence-based methods
• Coordinate preceptorships and student clinical experiences with local universities (UAA, UAS)
• Act as a liaison for broader clinical education initiatives and participate in cross-team projects
• Travel to remote sites as needed (by jet, small aircraft, and ferry) to deliver in-person training

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing (required)
• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
• BLS Instructor certification preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
• Clinical competency assessment required within 3 months of hire and periodic renewal as specified
• Minimum 5 years professional nursing experience with at least 2 years in long-term care
• 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be substituted with supervisory experience)
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and perform typical clinical duties
• Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time

Education

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited nursing program (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in clinical education, curriculum development, and adult learning methods
• Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to collaborate across teams
• Knowledge of evidence-based practice and methods for evaluating educational outcomes
• Familiarity with long-term care practices and geriatric care
• Experience with training modalities and tools such as Microsoft Teams, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
• Skill in standardizing competency processes and ensuring policy compliance
• Ability to create positive learning environments and support preceptorships
