Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality med-surg and neuro nursing care to a 40-bed unit
• Perform neurological assessments and NIH stroke scale evaluations when indicated
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the Meditech EMR
• Administer medications, manage IV therapy and monitor patient status
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and follow patient-centered care plans
• Support unit flow and staffing needs while maintaining patient safety and ratios
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure per state requirements (able to practice in Texas)
• BLS certification required
• NIH stroke scale competency required
• Minimum 1 year clinical experience (Med-Surg or Neurology preferred)
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR or similar electronic charting systems
• Positive, team-player attitude with strong communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surg and Neurology clinical knowledge and best practices
• Proficiency using Meditech electronic medical record
• NIH stroke scale assessment skills
• Strong patient assessment, critical thinking and prioritization
• Medication administration, IV care and documentation accuracy
• Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to unit rhythms
