Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct, high-quality patient care for medical/surgical and critically ill patients from admission through discharge.
Perform advanced patient assessments and continuous monitoring using complex monitoring equipment.
Manage ventilator-supported patients and operate advanced respiratory equipment with competence and confidence.
Care for patients with invasive lines (including A-lines), multiple IV pumps, and chest tubes, ensuring line integrity and infection prevention.
Act as a clinical leader on the unit: coach and precept staff, give clear direction to RN/LPN/CNA and support staff, and collaborate with providers and charge nurses.
Implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision, escalating concerns appropriately to supervisors and the Chief Nursing Officer.
Participate in discharge planning and coordinate safe transitions of care for patients.

Qualifications

Current Montana RN licensure (required)
BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
PALS, EPNC, TNCC certifications (preferred)
Recent experience in Critical Care nursing and practice in an advanced Medical/Surgical unit (required)
Demonstrated ability to precept and provide clinical leadership to nursing staff

Education

Degree from a Nursing program (as specified in the job description)

Knowledge & Skills

Advanced patient assessment and advanced nursing principles
Advanced monitoring and ventilator/ventilatory support management
Central/A-line and other invasive line care
IV therapy and operation of multiple IV pumps
Chest tube care and management
Direct patient care across admission to discharge processes
Discharge planning and interdisciplinary communication
Comfort using basic office equipment and clinical documentation systems
