Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based Labor and Delivery nursing care throughout labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum
• Continuously monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret fetal heart tracings, and act promptly on changes
• Assist with normal and emergent deliveries, collaborating closely with obstetricians, midwives, and neonatal teams
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and document interventions accurately
• Educate and support patients and families on labor progress, delivery options, and postpartum care
• Respond to obstetric emergencies with calm, decisive clinical actions and clear communication
• Contribute to unit quality improvement, safety initiatives, and thorough handoffs for continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Texas or compact RN licensure
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in Labor and Delivery
• Current BLS certification required; NRP and/or ACLS highly preferred
• Proficiency in electronic charting and fetal monitoring (external and internal) — or willingness to train
• Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and clear, compassionate communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of maternal-fetal physiology and labor progression
• Skilled in fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation
• Experience with intrapartum interventions and emergency obstetric protocols
• Competence in medication administration and IV therapy management
• Ability to provide patient education, emotional support, and family-centered care
• Effective interdisciplinary collaboration and clinical documentation
