Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on clinical support and mentorship to new hires, experienced staff, and students
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate orientation, staff updates, and continuing education offerings
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff, enhancing bedside skills and confidence
• Support nursing staff with complex patient care, medication administration, and treatment plans
• Analyze patient data and clinical practice to identify gaps and design targeted interventions
• Facilitate implementation of new clinical practices, protocols, and equipment with staff training
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and promote evidence-based standards of care
• Perform quality control audits and report regulatory or safety concerns to leadership

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license for the state of Alaska
• Nursing degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of Registered Nurse experience in acute care settings preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Clinical Competency Assessment (SEARHC) and High Risk Competency (SEARHC) preferred or required
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills; ability to work with interdisciplinary teams
• Flexibility to work varying schedules including weekends and holidays as needed

Education

• Nursing degree required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Acute care nursing and Med/Surg clinical expertise
• Patient assessment and safe medication administration
• Clinical education, teaching methods, and mentoring skills
• Knowledge of evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and regulatory standards
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records and Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint
• Ability to analyze clinical data, identify gaps, and implement interventions
• Calm, clear communication in high-stress clinical situations
