Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor and delivery nursing care for patients in a high-volume Level IV unit
• Monitor fetal status continuously using EFM and internal monitoring tools (IUPC, FSE, Toco) and escalate concerns promptly
• Assist and circulate during C-sections and support safe operative deliveries
• Perform and document assessments and interventions accurately in Meditech
• Collaborate closely with OB/GYNs, anesthesia, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care
• Educate patients and families about labor progress, procedures, and postpartum care in a clear, reassuring way
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure readiness of equipment such as Novii, JADA, and fetal pillows
• Contribute to unit quality and safety initiatives and support a 1:1 or 1:2 patient care ratio

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice (required)
• 2+ years nursing experience in Labor & Delivery (must-have per unit requirements)
• Current certifications: EFM, ACLS, BLS, NRP; SVE competency and C-section circulation competency required
• Experience with Meditech EMR for documentation and charting
• Competency or willingness to demonstrate competency in internal monitor placement preferred
• Comfortable working rotating shifts, including nights and alternating weekends
• Strong team player with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills

Education

• Active RN license required; Associate degree or BSN acceptable (BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) and fetal assessment
• IUPC, FSE, Toco and basic ultrasound familiarity
• C-section circulation and OR support for obstetric procedures
• Meditech EMR proficiency
• Management of spontaneous vaginal delivery (SVD), cerclages, TOLAC and C-sections
• Ability to manage 1:1 and 1:2 patient ratios in a busy unit
