Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the registered Physical Therapist in delivering therapeutic interventions that improve patient function and quality of life
• Perform routine treatment procedures in accordance with the planned program and the supervising PT's direction
• Observe, document, and report patient conditions, responses, and progress to the supervising therapist
• Communicate with patients' physicians as needed (in consultation with the supervising PT) about progress and treatments
• Direct and coordinate Physical Therapy Aides during treatments as appropriate
• Maintain treatment areas and equipment to ensure a safe, organized therapy environment
• Participate in facility educational activities and contribute to a culture of continuous learning
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation compliant with Medicare, private insurance, and facility policies

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved and accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current certification with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
• Active Florida PTA license required for submission
• Ability to perform minimal assist transfers (able to lift and control 50 pounds)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work under the supervision of a registered PT
• Comfort directing PT aides and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams

Education

• Graduation from an approved and accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Therapeutic interventions and routine treatment procedures
• Patient transfers and safe lifting techniques
• Accurate documentation and record-keeping for Medicare and insurance compliance
• Effective communication with physicians, patients, and care teams
• Supervising/directing PT aides during treatment sessions
• Infection control and safe treatment-area maintenance
• Patient education and motivation techniques
