Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Schedule varies — 5-hour pre-op shifts (start/end times to be confirmed), days vary; orientation required beginning with assignment start

Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare pediatric patients for surgery with compassionate, age-appropriate care
Perform pre-operative assessments and communicate findings clearly to the surgical team
Educate parents and caregivers about pre-op instructions and what to expect
Coordinate with perioperative staff to ensure smooth patient flow and safety
Document patient assessments and interventions accurately and timely
Maintain pediatric-focused infection control and safety practices

Qualifications

Current RN license in Massachusetts (or ability to obtain prior to start)
Experience or specialized interest in pediatric pre-op nursing is a strong plus
Current BLS required; PALS preferred or willing to obtain
Comfortable performing focused pre-op assessments and patient/family education
Ability to pass facility-required background checks and credentialing
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric nursing best practices and developmental considerations
Pre-operative assessment and perioperative workflow
Patient/family education techniques for surgical preparation
Accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical record familiarity
Team collaboration and effective handoff communication
