Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-anesthesia nursing care for patients in the PACU
• Monitor patients closely for airway, breathing, circulation, pain, and emergence complications
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the perioperative team to ensure safe handoffs
• Administer medications, perform assessments, and implement recovery plans promptly
• Educate patients and families about post-operative expectations and discharge instructions
• Document patient status, interventions, and progress accurately and timely
• Escalate changes in patient condition to the appropriate providers and participate in critical decision making

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) credential (required)
• Experience in PACU or post-anesthesia care preferred
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or obtainable
• Strong clinical assessment skills and experience managing post-op patients
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with attention to detail and patient safety

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of post-anesthesia recovery protocols and pain management strategies
• Skill with airway management, monitoring equipment, and IV medication administration
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced perioperative environment
• Patient- and family-centered care approach, with strong interpersonal skills
