Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain a sterile field and surgical instruments for procedures
Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments and supplies efficiently
Perform instrument counts and documentation to support patient safety
Ensure operating room equipment is ready, functioning, and sterile
Assist with orientation and training activities as required by the facility
Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and perioperative staff to deliver top-quality care
Adhere to infection control policies and ensure compliance with OR protocols

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent training
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred; on-the-job experience considered
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained shortly after hire
Comfortable working in a fast-paced OR environment and performing instrument counts
Strong teamwork, communication skills, and attention to sterile technique

Education

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Thorough knowledge of sterile technique and operating room procedures
Familiarity with surgical instruments, equipment setup, and instrument trays
Ability to anticipate clinical needs and prioritize tasks under pressure
Basic electronic documentation skills and ability to follow OR protocols
Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
