Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care to pediatric patients in the operating room
• Prepare the OR and surgical instrumentation, maintaining strict sterile technique
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team for seamless patient care
• Perform preoperative assessments and post-anesthesia handoffs with clear, compassionate communication
• Advocate for patients and families by explaining procedures and providing emotional support
• Accurately document patient care, surgical counts, and intraoperative events
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain clinical excellence

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or eligibility to obtain licensure
• Experience in the Operating Room, with pediatric experience strongly preferred
• Current BLS required; PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong familiarity with sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and perioperative protocols
• Ability to pass facility onboarding requirements, background checks, and immunizations
• Comfort working in a fast-paced surgical environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Orientation completion required (facility indicates orientation is provided)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with pediatric patient care considerations and family-centered communication
• Proficiency with surgical instrumentation and OR workflows
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Effective communication and teamwork with surgeons, anesthesia, and support staff
• Accurate documentation skills and comfort with electronic medical records
