Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Perform continuous patient assessment and respond to changes in condition quickly and confidently
• Administer medications, manage IV therapies and assist with complex interventions
• Operate and monitor ventilators and other life-support equipment as needed
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists and multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans
• Communicate clearly and sensitively with families, keeping them informed and supported during stressful times
• Document patient care accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record
• Participate in orientation and unit-based training to maintain best practices and patient safety

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (able to practice in California)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required or willing to obtain
• Previous PICU or pediatric critical care experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort with critically ill children
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Immunizations and health screening per facility policy (up-to-date TB screening, etc.)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred
• Completion of unit orientation and competency validation required

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and interventions
• Experience with ventilator management and vasoactive medication administration
• Skilled in patient assessment, hemodynamic monitoring and rapid response
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to educate and support families during complex care situations
• Strong teamwork, prioritization and crisis management skills
