Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered nursing care to Med/Surg patients with pediatric needs
• Perform thorough assessments and document findings clearly and promptly
• Administer medications and treatments while monitoring patient responses
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and update care plans
• Educate patients and families with compassion and clarity to support recovery
• Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Participate in orientation and unit-based trainings to maintain competence

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in Missouri)
• Clinical experience or comfort working in Med/Surg and pediatric patient populations
• Current BLS required; PALS or pediatric certifications encouraged if available
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health records
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Immunizations and health screening per facility policy; orientation required

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing practices and pediatric care principles
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Familiarity with infection control standards and patient safety practices
• Good assessment and critical thinking skills for acute care scenarios
• Strong communication skills with patients, families, and clinical teams
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time during busy shifts
