Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adults in a behavioral health setting
• Conduct thorough mental health assessments and document findings clearly
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Use therapeutic communication and de-escalation skills to ensure patient and staff safety
• Administer medications safely and monitor responses according to facility policy
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans and coping strategies
• Participate in shift handoffs and maintain accurate, timely charting in the EMR
• Support a positive, recovery-focused environment that promotes patient dignity and respect

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or ability to obtain RN licensure in New Hampshire
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; behavioral-health-specific certifications a plus
• Prior experience or strong interest in behavioral health/psychiatric nursing preferred
• Excellent communication, assessment and de-escalation skills
• Comfort working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and adapting to change

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of psychiatric/behavioral health nursing principles and best practices
• Skilled in mental status examination, risk assessment and crisis intervention
• Familiarity with medication administration and monitoring in behavioral health populations
• Proficient documentation and charting in electronic medical records (EMR)
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with patients and families
