Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Baltimore, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (as needed), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day shift, days vary)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate direct care to elderly residents, assisting with activities of daily living
Assist with bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility support
Take and record vital signs and report changes in condition promptly
Document care provided accurately and communicate observations to the care team
Support a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
Engage residents with respect and patience, promoting dignity and independence
Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to follow care plans

Qualifications

GNA classification / experience working as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Completion of a recognized nursing assistant / GNA program preferred
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
Comfortable assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling
Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and required health screenings
Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-focused attitude

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
Completion of GNA/nursing assistant training program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of elderly care best practices and common geriatric conditions
Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic personal care
Ability to take and document vital signs accurately
Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
Basic charting and documentation skills
Good team communication and resident-centered bedside manner
