Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical assessments and individualized treatment planning for psychiatric patients
• Deliver evidence-based psychotherapy and crisis intervention in a secure psychiatric program
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, and allied staff to coordinate care and improve outcomes
• Facilitate case management activities including discharge planning and community referrals
• Document clinical encounters thoroughly and maintain timely, accurate medical records
• Advocate for patient needs within the facility and with community resources to support recovery

Qualifications

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential — active and in good standing
• Experience working in mental health or psychiatric settings (hospital, long-term care, or program-based care preferred)
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning skills
• Comfort working within a secure psychiatric program and collaborating in interdisciplinary teams
• Current basic life support (BLS) if required by facility policies and ability to meet facility health/safety requirements

Education

• Master of Social Work (MSW) required; LCSW licensure required

Knowledge & Skills

• Psychiatric assessment and risk evaluation
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Individual and group psychotherapy approaches
• Knowledge of community resources and discharge planning processes
• Thorough clinical documentation and competency with electronic medical records
• Trauma-informed care principles and cultural competence
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
