Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients during assigned shifts
• Perform NIHSS stroke assessments accurately and document findings in the chart
• Monitor and interpret fetal heart tracings and perform AWHONN-guided fetal assessments
• Execute neonatal resuscitation steps per NRP when needed and support delivery room care
• Respond to cardiac emergencies using ACLS and BLS protocols
• Complete Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and maintain skill checklists
• Ensure licensure and required credentials are current and verified prior to start
• Participate in handoffs, interdisciplinary rounds, and clear patient/family communication

Qualifications

• Active RN license for Iowa (required)
• Current NIHSS certification
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Current NRP certification for neonatal resuscitation
• AWHONN certification or demonstrated fetal heart monitoring competency
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Completed required health screenings and immunizations (PPD/IGRA, fit test, drug screen, Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Varicella, COVID-19, influenza)
• Comfort working weekend rotations and adapting to varied shift patterns

Education

• Active RN license required; ADN or BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in stroke assessment using NIHSS
• Proficient with fetal heart monitoring and maternal-fetal assessment
• Experienced in neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and immediate newborn care
• Strong ACLS and BLS emergency response skills
• Competent with electronic health record documentation and handoffs
• Knowledgeable about infection control, fit testing and workplace screening requirements
• Able to complete and maintain Trinity competency testing and checklists
