Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust respiratory care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Deliver respiratory treatments and interventions as ordered by physicians while maintaining clear communication with nursing and medical staff
• Provide clear, compassionate patient education about respiratory conditions, procedures, and discharge instructions
• Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care for a diverse patient population
• Share clinical knowledge with staff and students and serve as a role model for best practices
• Accept reassignment to other units when needed to support patient care and unit needs

Qualifications

• Credentialed as RRT or CRT (RRT preferred)
• Current Illinois state respiratory therapist license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• NRP-MHC certification as listed by the client
• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field (required)

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related health field required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong respiratory care skills including assessment, treatment planning, and evaluation
• Effective patient education and the ability to explain complex conditions in plain language
• Excellent interdisciplinary communication and teamwork with nursing and medical staff
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care
• Clinical teaching aptitude to mentor students and junior staff
