Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients in the operating room
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical techs to ensure smooth procedures
- Maintain sterile technique and a safe operating environment throughout cases
- Prepare and verify surgical instruments, implants, and supplies prior to procedures
- Document patient care and handoffs clearly and accurately in the patient record
- Participate in team-based problem-solving to improve patient outcomes and OR efficiency
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
- Operating Room (OR) experience (required)
- Comfortable working as a travel RN and completing facility credentialing
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification preferred
- Strong teamwork, communication, and adaptability in fast-paced surgical settings
Education
- Nursing degree (ADN or BSN) — degree completion preferences vary by facility
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of perioperative principles and sterile technique
- Familiarity with common surgical instruments, supplies, and workflows
- Ability to assess and monitor patients before, during, and after surgery
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate care in the OR
- Comfortable with electronic health records and documentation best practices
