Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ functional abilities and develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
- Deliver evidence-based interventions to improve activities of daily living and independence
- Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs, and physicians to coordinate comprehensive rehab care
- Document progress clearly and timely to support continuity of care and discharge planning
- Educate patients and families on adaptive strategies, home safety, and community resources
- Adapt treatment approaches as patients progress, always aiming for measurable functional gains
- Float to nearby units (including Larkin Chase Center) as staffing needs require
Qualifications
- Current, active Occupational Therapist license in Maryland (required)
- NBCOT certification or eligibility preferred
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
- Comfort working in an inpatient/rehab environment and collaborating across disciplines
- Excellent clinical reasoning, documentation, and patient/family education skills
- Willingness to float between assigned facilities as needed
Education
- Master's or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (or entry-level OTD) from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL training, adaptive equipment recommendations, and activity analysis
- Strong assessment and care planning abilities for inpatient rehabilitation patients
- Proficient documentation practices and electronic medical record usage
- Ability to work collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams
- Effective communication with patients, families, and clinical staff
