Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and therapeutic interventions to patients across the unit
• Assess, monitor, and document respiratory status, ventilator settings, and response to treatment
• Manage ventilators and perform arterial blood gas analysis to guide clinical decisions
• Administer aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy, and other respiratory treatments safely
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to create patient-centered plans
• Educate patients and families about respiratory conditions, equipment, and home care needs
• Participate in infection control, safety practices, and unit-based quality improvement efforts
• Complete required competency testing, documentation, and mandatory screenings on time

Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license with License/Certificate Verification as required by the facility
• BLS and ACLS certifications (current)
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist as required
• Fit test and Trinity Respirator Evaluation completed prior to start
• Required immunizations and screens: Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA
• Physical/Health Statement and Trinity 10 Panel Drug Screen clearance before onboarding
• Strong clinical judgment, clear communication skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced hospital setting

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Airway management and oxygen delivery systems
• Arterial blood gas interpretation and monitoring
• Familiarity with respiratory therapy equipment and maintenance
• Accurate clinical documentation and electronic charting
• Infection control practices and patient safety
• Interdisciplinary collaboration and patient/family education
• Comfort completing competency testing and following standardized protocols
