Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to long term care residents with dignity and respect
- Assess resident conditions, monitor changes, and document care accurately and promptly
- Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with facility policies
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Respond effectively to clinical emergencies and escalate when appropriate
- Educate residents and families on care plans, medications, and prevention strategies
- Support continuity of care through thorough handoffs and clear communication
Qualifications
- Active Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required
- Experience in long term care or a similar clinical setting preferred
- Comfort working 12-hour day shifts and adapting to a close-knit, remote community environment
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- Active RN license in Alaska (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills
- Knowledge of long term care best practices and regulatory requirements
- Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families, and team members
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time during busy 12-hour shifts
- Basic familiarity with electronic health record documentation and charting
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to a small-town Alaskan healthcare setting
